Metaphoric cards: an image with no given meaning, you find it yourself
Metaphoric associative cards (MAC) are image cards with no fixed meaning. Unlike tarot, a card has no upright or reversed and no position in a spread: the image is the whole content, and the reading is whatever you see in it. In Taroim you draw a card face down, turn it over when you're ready, and work with it through a few guiding questions. The app never tells you what the card "means".
How a session works
- Optionally write what's on your mind: a situation, a question, or just how you feel.
- Draw a card. Take your time, and turn it over when you're ready.
- Answer the guiding questions (below) for yourself.
- Write down what you saw.
The guiding questions
- What caught your eye first?
- What do you feel looking at this image?
- Who or what in it is you?
- How does it connect to what you came with?
Frequently asked questions
- What are metaphoric associative cards?
- Cards with an image and no fixed meaning. You draw one blind and read whatever speaks to you in it.
- How are metaphoric cards different from tarot?
- A tarot card has a traditional meaning, can be upright or reversed and sits in a spread position. A metaphoric card has none of that: the meaning is what you bring to it.
- Do I need a subscription for metaphoric cards?
- No. Metaphoric cards are open to everyone in the app.
